I designed signage for the renovated Foundry Gym in Kings Heath, Birmingham, enhancing navigation and atmosphere. Additionally, I refined the franchise's branding, including imagery, colour schemes, and typography, creating a cohesive visual identity that reflects the gym's values of strength and fitness.
01  Font and Colour Selection

H1 Font: I chose Burnaby Stencil, a bold, industrial typeface that aligns perfectly with the gym’s graffiti and stencil-inspired aesthetic.
Body Font: Roboto Condensed - a clean, professional font that’s easy to read while complementing the H1 seamlessly.

Colour: I selected light orange, black, and white as the main colours. These were inspired by the graffiti within the gym and align with the existing colour scheme of the Foundry website, ensuring a cohesive and unified brand identity.
02  Foundry Gym-mandments

The Gymmandments are a concise, no-nonsense list of essential gym rules. I drew inspiration from the gym's unique aesthetic, particularly the stencil font and the barricade tape graffiti that are a part of its industrial and rugged feel - this is represented throughout the design(s).
03  Platform Use and Rack Safety

This design helps maintain a safe and efficient environment while seamlessly blending with The Foundry's clean and bold aesthetic. I introduced icons to aid the clear messaging.
04  Iconography

The goal was to maintain a consistent icon style that aligns with the brand and existing website elements. Each icon was designed to be simple, impactful and self-explanatory.
05  Class Timetable

These gym timetable posters were created to move away from traditional formats, featuring bold and energetic visuals that grab attention and inspire action. Each class is showcased as a unique and impactful design, making it easy to navigate the schedule while reflecting the intensity and motivation of the gym experience. This approach ensures that the timetable not only provides the vital information but also energises and engages the audience.
06  Sign Up as a Member

With the launch of the new app, it was important to inform all gym members about its features. Members could easily sign up by scanning the QR code on the poster, which matches the style of the other informational posters.
07  No Sharing your Fingerprint with others

This signage clearly emphasises the importance of keeping your fingerprint private. The messaging is direct, and the design aligns with other signage in the series.
08  Wipe Down Equipment

This is a straightforward sign that reminds gym members to clean their equipment and running machines after use. There are no distracting icons, allowing the message to remain clear and focused.
09  FREE Parking roller banner

The roller banner has been designed with clear, easy-to-understand instructions to help gym members avoid parking penalties and successfully enjoy their free parking.
